When our friends Gary and Ricia visited a while ago (BlogLink), Gary and I played a little tennis. Since then, Tucker and I have really been getting into it.
Previously, I've stayed away from tennis because of the surgery on my left knee (1996). It was arthroscopic and though I did all the physical therapy, it still hurt when I ran or trotted. I tried all sorts of remedies but it still gave me pain and some swelling. Figuring there were only so many steps I was going to take with that knee, I played basketball and limited all other activities.
Fast forward to 2008 and when I played Gary, my knee didn't hurt. My pride did as he kicked my butt, however my knee didn't hurt. What was the difference. Certainly time ... it's been 12 years (hard to believe) but also my mountain climbing has to be the real difference.
So, Tucker and I have been playing close to 4 times a week (Sat, Sun, Tues, Thu) for the last month. I've lost about 8 pounds and currently have a bet with Steve Soroka for $20 to see who will get down to 200lbs first. He has a head start but I think I've got an advantage as he has his daughter's wedding coming up! WE'LL SEE!
Well, time to get my shorts, t-shirt and hit the courts with Tucker!
Grace and Peace to all.
J
