The Family Havest

Times are tough these days. The economic news seems to get worse each day. As a result, we started a small banana farm ... ok, it was only 3 trees but now it is 5 and we had our first harvest ... how cool is that? It was really just for some fun.

Matt is here for a few months and you can see him below cutting down the banana stock.

Quite a bunch of bananas! That will make a lot of banana bread.

Matt and Tucker show off their machete and the bananas.

Captain Morgan would be proud!

They covered the counter!

I hope that your days are fresh with the cool crisp air of winter. Here in Hawaii, it is rainy season ... more on that in the next post!

Stand Up Paddle Board

Where do I start?

I've wanted to Stand Up Paddleboard ever since I first saw it. It looked silent and smooth ... people skimming across the water with little effort. They stand on 10+ foot boards that look similar to surf boards but they are also wider. With a long paddle, the blade dips into the water and propels the board and the rider forward. Grace and beauty.

Below is the Island Girl preparing to paddleboard for the first time

We started out sitting or kneeling. The wind whipped around us and made small waves bigger and bigger. For a while, I thought that we would be blown off the island!

We moved locations and got to the lee of Kokohead. Less wind there and we had the opportunity to actually stand up ... wow ... incredible fun! We skimmed along for 30 to 40 yards and then just fell over!

Below is a video clip of Krista standing up on her paddle board. She was great!
